The Catas Altas Extension Project was created with the aim of tackling a high rate of hospitalizations for cardiovascular diseases in a municipality in Minas Gerais. The project has expanded and currently aims to promote the health of the population of Minas Gerais through Lifestyle Medicine (MEV). More than 740 patients receive monthly care. Coaching tools are used for sustainable lifestyle change. They take place via teleservices, at events across the state and at a university hospital. The project has proven successful in bringing new healthy habits to the population served, in addition to bringing new service skills to the more than 140 associated students. We consider restricting services to a structured itinerary as one of the challenges of the project. We plan to centralize our lines of research in our recently created SEM research group and expand to new cities and hospital services in MG.
